Let’s Move Nation Joins LAUSD’s 5K Move It Challenge and Health Festival

Let’s Move Nation was delighted to participate for the third year at the Los Angeles Unified School District’s 5K “Move It!” Challenge and Health Festival on Saturday, April 23 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

Thousands of LAUSD students, family members, and community supporters participated in the 5K to promote the benefits of active living and healthy eating while raising important dollars to fund health-related programs and activities including sports and athletics, student field trips, and full-service wellness centers that provide invaluable services and programs to LAUSD students and their families.

Let’s Move Nation is proud to partner with LAUSD on this exciting annual event, and to welcome such inspirational athletes as Kym Johnson, Professional Dancer, Fitness Expert and TV Personality from Dancing with the Stars and Olympian Althea Moses, a Jr. Olympic Track Gold Medal Champion and Record Breaker.

In addition to the 5K, attendees were treated to stage performances, a health festival area, and lots of fun kids’ activities promoting health, healthy eating and physical fitness. Highlights included activity areas hosted by the LA Galaxy, the U.S. Army, the YMCA, Youth Yoga, and the Palpitating Panthers. A surprise appearance by Los Angeles’ newest major sports franchise, the Los Angeles Rams, made the day complete.

Let’s Move Nation looks forward to next year’s event and continuing our partnership with LAUSD to fight the epidemic of childhood obesity and ensure all children have access to healthy foods and safe places to play and be active.
