Rev. Ann Champion Shaw

Executive Pastor

On a lifelong journey of ministry since the tender age of 16, Rev. Robert Shaw is an ordained Itinerant Elder in the dynamic favored 5th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

A native of Kansas City, MO, he is the oldest son of Mrs. Willa A. Shaw and the late Mr. Robert Shaw. As a persistent seeker of knowledge, Rev. Shaw fortified his ministry with a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Prairie View A&M University, Prairie View, TX, and an M.Div., with a focus on Homiletics, from the prestigious Turner Theological Seminary of the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC), Atlanta, GA. Significantly, he was the proud recipient of the venerated Isaac Clark Preaching Award during his time at the ITC. Currently, he is pursuing his Doctorate of Ministry at United Theological Seminary.

Having national & international opportunities to preach and serve in civic, community, & church roles, Pastor Rob formerly guided the faithful at Reedy Chapel, Springfield, MO, and Brooks Chapel, Butler, MO. Led congregations toward spiritual growth at Allen Chapel AME Church, Kansas City, MO, St. John AME Church, St. Louis, MO, and Bethel AME Church, Kansas City, MO.

He was appointed the pastor of Bethel AME Church, San Francisco, CA, in Oct 2017 under the esteemed Presiding Prelate, Bishop Clement W. Fugh. Bethel, affectionately known as “The House,” the oldest black church in San Francisco, is guided by faith and dedicated to service. In addition, benevolence was given throughout the 5th District to support sister churches.

As pastor of Bethel, he is honored to chair the board of directors for several affordable housing developments: Fellowship Manor, Thomas Paine, Willie B. Kennedy, Rosa Parks & Laurel Gardens. Harmoniously joining hands to uplift, support, and transform communities, Pastor Rob, the congregation, and the Business Development Ministry led by Bro. Bobby Sisk has added the following to the church’s portfolio: The Anvil Arms, a 21-unit market-rate housing development, and the Anvil House, a newly designed and developed ministry collaboration between Bethel & Resurrection AME dedicated to helping men “Build Back Better” for seamless societal re-entry.
Beloved husband to the incomparable Rev. Ann Champion Shaw, his partner in life and ministry, serves as the full-time Executive Pastor of Bethel AMECSF. They are proud to be the blessed parents to the radiant Miss Raven Noel Lovelace Shaw, a freshman at Howard University, and the courageous Master Robert Ryland Shaw III, a smooth sophomore at Saint Ignatius College Preparatory School. Together, they serve, love, and create a lasting legacy.
